Who Are We?
Iberian Pastures was born at a union of 2 great cultures in agriculture and gastronomy. In the 1500s, Hernando de Soto, a Spanish explorer from Extremadura brought the first iberian pigs to the US. Pigs escaped, other European settlers brought their breeds and ultimately lost the genetic traceability. 500 years later, White Oak Pastures Harris Family in Georgia and the Oriol family from Spain reintroduce the golden child of Spanish gastronomy back into the United States.
A Match Made in Heaven – Why Iberico?
100% Purebred iberico were inserted into the grazing and rotational pasture based system in White Oak Pastures, a perfect home for the leader of free-range pork. We raise strictly 100% purebred iberico pigs that are raised up to 1 year of age, finished on pecans, peanuts and sunflower. This combination of pastured grazing movement and a high oleic fat diet rich in omega-9 creates the ultimate marbling and fat profile that is out of this world.
